Eisteddfods

  • Eisteddfods are dancing festivals in which the student competes in solo and or group sections.
  • For solo’s, students require a weekly private lesson of half an hour or an hour for the routines required. Maximum of 2 to 3 routines for ½ hour and competing in sections only.  A maximum of 4 to 5 routines for 1 hour for championships.
  • If you are interested in your child participating in Eisteddfod work please see Simone to organise a meeting with the Principals.
  • All students that participate in 2 ballet classes and a technical lesson a week are eligible for solo and group eisteddfod lessons.
  • Eisteddfods operate all through the year in the Newcastle and Sydney areas.
  • The principals will advise which Eisteddfods the studio will be participating in. It is then your choice as to whether your child participates or not.
  • It is the parents’ responsibility to enter the child into the Eisteddfod.
  • The teachers will advise what sections to enter and sign the form when completed. You send it to the organising committee along with the required fee before the closing date.
  • It is the parent’s responsibility to take the child to the Eisteddfod with all the requirements: i.e. costumes, music, props etc.
  • The program is issued by the Eisteddfod committee and is distributed before the opening day of the festival.
  • We hold no responsibility for the issuing dates of these programs.
  • The routine and the music are the property of Newcastle Dance Academy.
  • You are only paying a hire fee for the dance and music whilst your child has the routine and is a student of Newcastle Dance Academy.
  • You are paying tuition fees only, not for the purchase of the above mentioned.
  • It is your responsibility to purchase the costumes once your teacher has designed the appropriate one for each dance.
  •  Please only resell your costumes to Newcastle Dance Academy.
  • No tutu’s or costumes are to be purchased from the internet.
  • It is expected that students practice eisteddfod dance choreography at home so that their private lesson time can be best utilised for correction and perfection.
