Newcastle Dance Academy is proudly owned and directed by Tracy Caldwell-Ostermann and Roxanne McCourtie-Tagaroulias, who together celebrate 30 years as business owners and leaders in dance education.
Our story began in 1996 with a small studio, a shared vision, and a whole lot of heart. With just ten weeks left in that very first year, we hired church halls, packed up our music and dreams, and moved from space to space – always guided by our belief in quality training, care, and community. In 1999, we found a more permanent home on Hobart Road, where Newcastle Dance Academy truly began to grow.
After the devastating floods of 2007, we were faced with a moment of reflection – and renewal. Out of challenge came opportunity, and in 2009 we proudly opened the doors to our purpose-built, six-studio complex in Broadmeadow, a space designed with our students, families, and future firmly in mind. Today, Newcastle Dance Academy is home to over 200 students, spanning preschool through to pre-professional and adult dancers.
We are deeply committed to offering exceptional dance education paired with honest, professional guidance for families. Our studios are led by a passionate team of fully qualified Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) teachers, who continually engage in professional development to ensure we remain at the forefront of teaching excellence. As a child-safe organisation, all staff hold current Working With Children Checks, and student wellbeing is always our priority.
Born and bred in Newcastle, we are incredibly proud of the community we have built. Newcastle Dance Academy is more than a place to dance – it is a space where children are nurtured, talent is encouraged, confidence is built, and families feel genuinely supported. Our beautiful facilities exist for one purpose: to help every dancer feel safe, inspired, and empowered to reach their potential.
